The question everyone asks first

How much does a website cost in Sydney?

Short answer: here, a custom small business website costs A$399 for one page, A$1,190 for a 5-page site, and up to A$5,200 for a large site with custom features, plus a small monthly fee for hosting, updates and support. Below is what changes the price, and what to check before you compare quotes.

What changes the price of a website

Most of the cost comes down to a few things. Knowing them makes any quote easier to understand.

  1. Number of pages

A single page is quick to design and build. Each extra page needs its own layout, words and testing.

  2. Features

Online booking, galleries, menus, listings and similar features take longer to build than plain pages, so they cost more.

  3. Who writes the words

Supplying your own text keeps the price down. Help writing your copy is included from the Business package, and full copywriting with Professional.

  4. Custom design or a template

Templates are cheaper to start with but look like everyone else. Every site here is designed from scratch for your business.

  5. Hosting, updates and support

Someone has to keep the site online, secure and up to date. Here that is a flat monthly fee with no lock-in.

  6. What’s left out of the quote

Check for extras like domain renewals, hosting, changes after launch and contract terms. Your quote here lists all of it in writing.

Examples

See what it could look like.

Two concept sites at different prices: a 5-page café site (Essential, A$1,190) and a salon site with online booking (Business, A$1,990). Click either to look inside.

What I’d recommend

Essential: A$1,190, then A$49/month

For most small businesses I recommend Essential: up to 5 pages for A$1,190, plus A$49 a month. It covers your services, story, contact and a page or two more, without paying for features you don’t need yet.

How it works

From first call to launch in four steps.

The same clear process for every project. An Essential site is usually ready for your review within about a week of receiving your content. Exact timing is in your written quote.

  1. Discovery

A short call about your business, your customers and what the site needs to do. You get a written quote with the scope and timing.

  2. Direction and design

We agree the page structure and the look, then you see the design on your own phone before anything is built.

  3. Development

The site is built, connected to your enquiry email and tested on phones, tablets and desktops.

  4. Launch and refinement

Your domain is connected and the site goes live. Agreed changes are made and you know exactly how updates work from there.

Why is there a monthly fee?

The monthly fee covers hosting, security updates, keeping the site running and small changes like new hours, prices or services. It is month to month with no lock-in contract.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. The written quote lists everything. The only common extra is your domain name (for example yourbusiness.com.au), which is registered in your name and usually costs around A$15–30 a year.

How do I pay?

You approve a written quote first. Then half the setup fee is paid to start and half on launch. After launch there is the monthly fee.

Can I start small and add more later?

Yes. Many businesses start with a one-page or 3-page site and add pages or features such as booking later. Additions are quoted before any work is done.

Why not just use a DIY website builder?

DIY builders can work if you have the time and an eye for design. You still pay a monthly subscription, and you do all the design, writing and setup yourself. A custom site is designed for your business and done for you.
