What an AI assistant does
It's a chat box on your website that answers customers' questions in plain language, any time of day. A well set-up one only answers from your own information (services, prices, hours, areas) and says so when it doesn't know.
An AI agent goes a step further: it can also take the enquiry, book an appointment into your calendar and follow up customers who go quiet.
Signs it would help you
- You get the same questions over and over: prices, areas, availability.
- You're on the tools or with customers all day and can't answer quickly.
- Enquiries come in after hours and go cold by the morning.
- You take bookings, and the back-and-forth of finding a time eats into your day.
When it isn't worth it yet
- Your website hardly gets any visitors. Fix that first; an assistant only helps the people who arrive.
- Every job is complex and needs a proper conversation before anything else.
- Your information changes daily and nobody will keep it up to date.
Questions to ask before you buy one
- Does it only answer from my information, or can it make things up?
- Is it clearly labelled as AI, so customers aren't misled?
- What happens when it doesn't know? (It should point customers to you.)
- Where do the conversations go, and does the privacy policy cover it?
- Are the AI running costs included, or billed on top?
- Can I switch it off any time?
What it costs with me
An AI Assistant is A$990 to set up and A$49 a month. An AI Agent, which also takes enquiries and books jobs, is A$3,999 and A$199 a month. The AI running costs are included, and both can be added to any website I build.
Tip: There's a live demo agent on my website. Ask it a question, then ask it for a quote, and you'll see exactly how it works.
